Presidents report Boomerang 23-2-2025

It may be called Boomerang but we won’t be returning any time soon. A
combination of wet fairways and roughs, terribly scarred, bumpy greens
and a hole out of play sealed Boomerang’s fate, at least until they get
their act together. Captain Murphy has already cancelled next February
2026 and booked Shoalhaven Heads instead.
Having said that the 2 Person Ambrose was keenly contested with new
man Dunc McColl and Tim Love (who also won Emmanuelle’s haircut)
taking the cash with 65 nett 58.75, edging out Terry Wales and relatively
new man Kieran Mierrendorff on a countback, 70 nett 58.75. 3 rd place
went to the combination of President Gatwood (or should I change that
to King) and Matt Brown with 71 nett 60. This combination will turn
enemies as they will play each other in the Single Match Play final on
March 16 th . The 4 Ball Match Play final will also be played on March 16 th
between Al Gibbs/Glenn Irwin and Pete Samuel/Rod Coates. Best
wishes to all our finalists.
You’ll probably not notice but as usual the point scores for the final 2
rounds won’t be published. All will be revealed on Presentation Day
which will be held upstairs at the pub after our game at Antill Park on
April 27 th . Another date to diarise is our 2025 AGM. This will also be
held upstairs at the pub on Tuesday May 6 th , 5.00pm start. Nomination
forms are available now and must be returned to me by April 22 nd . Let
me know if you want one.
Our next game at Kembla Grange on March 30 th is the final game of the
season. It is also the 3 rd and final round of the Club Championship. The
committee has decided to play the top 8 contenders in the final 2 groups.
This will add a bit of fun and drama to the day.
I asked Tim Love if he liked playing early on match day. He replied, “Yes,
Pete. I’m an early riser. I like to get up at 6.00am no matter what time it
is.”
