Gerringong 25-8-24

If there’s a more picturesque place to play golf in the Illawarra than Gerringong I don’t know where it is? It’s a toughish walk so 28 of the members opted for a cart. Wise decision in my opinion. Conditions were benign for the 4 Ball Best Ball game and subsequently 9 out of the 19 teams managed 40 points or more. First place went to Terry Wales and Greig Turnbull who accumulated an excellent 46 points. 2nd place went to the team of Dave Murphy and Matt Brown with 44, just edging out Paul Rigby and Brett Zanni on a countback. A good roll up back at the pub enjoyed an excellent BBQ (thanks Greg B, Boris and Lee) and a few cold ones. 

Our next event is Rd 2 of the Single Match Play. This will be played at The Vale on Sunday, September 8, tee off at 8.30am. The 4 Ball Match Play will begin on October 6th at The Vale. The draw will be completed shortly and sent to those participating. It’s not too late to get your name on the list. Let me know if you want to play.

Round 6 of the 2024/25 season will be played at Shellharbour Links on September 15. The event is a single stableford and is the first round of the Club Championship. Tee off at 8.00am. 

I’d like to again thank Dwayne Johnson for giving up his time to mount the Honour Boards at the pub. They look sensational and have raised the profile of our club within the pub significantly.

Chops didn’t play at Gerringong so I’m hoping he’ll be at Shellharbour next game so we can present him with a trophy or two from last season. After returning from his 2 months holiday overseas I asked him if he went to The Pyramids, he replied, “I don’t know Pete, I can’t remember all the casinos I went to.”
