Awarding Points and Prizes

Single Stableford Event:

Points:  The first 12 players receive points.  First receives 12 points, second 11 points and so on with eleventh receiving 2 points and twelfth 1 point.
Prizes:  First receives $30, second $20, third $10 and fourth a drink voucher.  The first 12 players  and the Bradman winner receive a ball each.

4BBB and 2 Person Ambrose Events:

Points:  Each player in the first six teams receives points.  First team receives 7 points each, second team 6 points each, third team 5 points each, fourth team 4 points each, fifth team 3 points each and sixth team 2 points each.

Prizes:  First team receives $15 each, second team $10 each and third team $5 each.  Players in the first six teams receive a ball each.

4 Person Ambrose Event:

Points:  Each player in the first three teams receives points.  First team receives 4 points each, second team 3 points each and third team 2 points each.

Prizes:  First team receives $10 each and second team $5 each.  Players in the first three teams receive a ball each.

General:

Nearest the Pin winners receive 1 point each.  Longest Drive winner receives 1 point.  In the Drive and Pitch competition 1 point is awarded to the winner in a stableford and a 4BBB event.  In an Ambrose event (2 person or 4 person) 1 point is awarded to the driver and 1 point to the pitcher in the winning team.  A stableford score of 37 or more earns a player 1 point.  Playing on game day earns a player 2 points. Wearing the club shirt earns a player 1 point.  Attendance at the barbecue earns 1 point.

Point Score Competition:

The competition begins in April and finishes in March of the following year. Points awarded in Single Stableford, 4BBB, Ambrose events and points awarded relating to the General section (as above) will be included in a member’s point score for each round. At the end of the playing year, each player will have all their rounds totalled. These results will be used to determine the recipients of awards (first, second and third) for the Point Score Competition on Presentation Night. An award cannot be made to a member if the number of recipients, at that stage, has reached or exceeded three.    If members are tied then they will all receive the same award providing the number of recipients, at that stage, has not reached or exceeded three.  So that award winners are not known until Presentation Night the results of the last two rounds will not be published.

Club Championship:

The competition begins in April and finishes in March of the following year.  Only stableford points will be used in determining award recipients for the Club Championship. At the beginning of each playing year, the Committee will nominate three (3) rounds in that playing year, to be the Championship rounds. The Club Championship awards will then be determined by totalling each member’s stableford scores from those three (3) Championship rounds. These total scores will be used to determine the recipients of awards (first, second and third) for the Club Championship Competition on Presentation Night . In the event of there being less than 3 Championship rounds (for example a washed out Championship round), then the remaining Championship rounds will be used to obtain a total for each member and so determine Club Championship award recipients. An award cannot be made to a member if the number of recipients, at that stage, has reached or exceeded three. If members are tied then they will all receive the same award providing the number of recipients, at that stage, has not reached or exceeded three.  The results of stableford rounds will be published after each relevant round.

Countback:

If scores are tied in a stableford or teams event a “countback” will operate to determine rankings. A countback will apply to the last nine holes of the golf course (ie. from the10^th to the 18^th holes) irrespective of where players have started their rounds. If, for example, players started their rounds at the tenth tee, the last nine holes, for this purpose, are still the 10^th to 18^th holes.

Whichever player or team has the best score on the last nine holes will be ranked above the others.  If scores for the last nine holes are equal then scores for the last six holes are considered to determine the rankings.  If a result still cannot be determined then scores for the last three holes are considered to determine the rankings. If a result still cannot be determined then scores on the 18^th hole will be compared to determine rankings. Failing this, the process will be repeated for the 17^th hole then the 16^th hole and so on until the 10^th hole is reached.  If after this process a result has not been obtained then the whole process is repeated for the first nine holes of the course (ie. holes 1 to 9).

New Members, Visitors and Social Members without a handicap:

New members, visitors and social members without a handicap are welcome to play on game day, however, they will need to have a member write their name on the game sheet (on notice board in hotel) for the next game.  The member has the responsibility of writing his/her name in brackets beside the new member’s, visitor’s or social member’s name and of notifying a committee member of this inclusion.  A visitor or social member will be charged $50 a new member $40 to play and this will cover green fees, all they can eat at the after game barbecue, a free drink and participation in the raffle.  There will also be limited opportunity to participate in some of the game day prizes.

Stableford rounds:

1. New members without a handicap are only eligible to win any of the special holes and those achievements will be recognised at the presentation barbecue. A ball will be given for each achievement and points awarded for winning special holes, playing, wearing the Club shirt and attending the after match barbecue. New members will not receive any money.
2. Visitors and social members without a handicap may, at the discretion of the Club Captain or their nominee, be given a nominal handicap. They will be eligible to win any of the special holes and those achievements will be recognised at the presentation and a ball given for each achievement. They will not receive any points or money.

Teams events (2 person or 4 person Ambrose, 4BBB):

New members, visitors and social members without a handicap may play in a teams event if:

1. they obtain a GA handicap before the relevant game in which they are wanting to play.
2. they are able to present at least three (3) golf cards that are acceptable to the Club Captain or nominee before the relevant game in which they are wanting to play or;
3. the Club Captain agrees to allocate a temporary handicap to the new member, visitor or social member. However, the allocated handicap will not be more than 18.

If a new member, visitor or social member satisfies one of the conditions, 1, 2 or 3 above, then they may play in a teams event and be eligible to win money, prizes and balls.  A new member will also be eligible to receive points.

Visitors and Social Members with a handicap:

If a visitor or social member with a handicap finishes in the first twelve positions and or wins one of the special holes, those achievements will be recognised at the presentation and the visitor or social member given a ball for each achievement. They will not receive any points or money. The club member who finishes behind the visitor or social member will be given the visitor’s or social member’s position and receive all awards for that position. All other club members will advance one position.

Eg. Social member Glenn finishes 3^rd and wins the drive and pitch.  Club member Anne finishes 4^th.  Glenn will be acknowledged as coming third on the day and only receive a ball for coming third and a ball for winning the drive and pitch.  Because of the relevance to the Point Score Competition Anne will officially receive 3^rd position (10 points), $10 and a ball.  The club member behind Anne receives 4^th position (9 points), $5 and a ball.  The next member 5^th position (8points) and a ball and so on until the member coming 13^th is given the 12^th position (1 point) and a ball.

Teams events (2 person or 4 person Ambrose, 4BBB):

Visitors and social members with a handicap qualify for money prizes and or balls but do not qualify for points.

Eg. Visitor Julie comes first in an Ambrose event and wins a nearest the pin hole. She will receive $10 and a ball for being in the first team and a ball for winning nearest the pin. She will not receive any points.

Captain and President Game:

In the event of a drawn result the winning team will be decided by considering the stableford scores of the Captain and the President. Whoever has the higher stableford score of these two, will have their team declared the winner. If relevant, a countback is to apply.
